Statement of Purpose
Blog Post #1
My blog will not revolve around one question or topic that I can describe in a few sentences. The list of topics I made for this blog are all over the place and cover a wide variety of subjects that do not have a central theme. I am curious about a lot of things and want to find out more about/expand on them. I wasn’t able to stick to one idea because that just isn’t enough for me, especially with all the things I'm interested in. As a result, it'll be a collection of my unorganized thoughts regarding certain subjects. You can say I'm writing this blog in order to figure myself out. Having my thoughts written out and organized into a blog might help with that. Some of the things I'm planning on writing are included but not limited to hot takes like "Water doesn't have a taste," personal essays like "What effect will waking up at 7am and becoming a morning person have on my mental health (this one may be tragic)," lists of my favorite sci-fi books or the cars my family has leased over the years, (not very reliable) advice on how to be satisfied with what you do, a deep dive into the world of hate behind electric vehicles, and so on. The point is, it's all disconnected. If I had to dedicate five blog posts to the same subject or make them all similar to one another, I would probably heavily disagree with the reviews of the process of writing blog posts that Professor Seckler showed us in class. I'd say that I might get very technical with the blog posts related to cars, though. I have been interested in cars ever since I've watched the first Cars movie way back when I didn't even have a functioning conscience, and ever since then I've had them infiltrate my interests in one way or another, from movies (Cars trilogy, Fast and Furious series), shows (Hyperdrive, Top Gear), and social media (half of my recommended and explore pages on YouTube and Instagram are just vehicle-related content and I eat that stuff up. My personal favorites are Throttle House (who mimic the Top Gear style very well and add their own charm), carwow (Mat Watson carries car reviews), Doug DeMuro (a more down-to-earth Mat Watson with incredible meme potential), MKBHD (Auto Focus), and WhistlinDiesel (some of the most entertaining stuff out there in my opinion, even if you're not a car person). I'll try to limit car-related blogs in order to be able to explore other aspects of life, however, so that I can hit my goal of figuring myself out, especially since... I'm already aware of my interest in cars. I might get into writing a personal essay about diving into the world of sports media consumption because I have never seen a single full game of any sport in my life. I grew up with my family showing me Russian cartoons (which are still the best kids' stuff out there in my opinion and I watched a whole lot of CN and Nick in that time as well) and never were any of them interested in sports, and so I followed suit. I've never been exposed to the world of watching sports, so writing a personal essay on that subject might make for an interesting blog post.
